Subject: Nomination of the Axial Pet Project to the Leonardo Da Vinci Competition

To the organizer of the Leonardo Da Vinci Competition for the most efficient solution in the particle detection for early cancer diagnosis.

I am a cancer survivor. Unfortunately my cancer couldn't be detected early by the digital mammography until one day it showed up by itself, unequivocally.

I am very concern about these technologies which promise early detection without delivering it.

We, patients, go through a lot of aggravation with these examinations hoping that it will be worth it.

It is very important that all our money and hopes are well spent, because too many times we are told about the efficiency of a technology, to find out later that it doesn't respond to the truth.

This is the reason why I am submitting this nomination of the Axial Pet project to the Leonardo Da Vinci Competition, in order to have an objective evaluation of the early detection technologies that are available nowadays and that are used to examine us.

Please read and evaluate the attached articles, (see also the links below) about the Axial-Pet, awarded the first prize at the workshop Physics for Health in Europe, held at CERN in February 2010, and give me your scientific opinion on how this new technology can help us and how does it compare in efficiency and costs to other technologies.

Thank you

Sincerely

Barbara Grigoletto
